Service Activity: Precision and convenience with the added fields Serial Number and Lot (v.25)

 

In our latest update we've made an important improvement in the Service. By adding the Serial Number and Lot fields directly to the Service Activity - Materials panel, we simplify tracking and ensure that all necessary information is captured in one place, making the process more efficient and accurate.

 

Why the Change Was Necessary

In many service scenarios, specific products—such as hard drives, autoparts, electrical units—require tracking via their serial number and lot number. Previously, managing these details often required multiple documents or separate entries, which could lead to errors and inefficiencies. Whether you're dealing with replacement parts, or any item that needs distinct identification, handling serial and lot numbers in a seamless, centralized way is essential.

Benefits of the Update

  1. More Precise Tracking: Service documents now include a direct reference to materials’ serial and lot numbers, providing a clearer view of the exact items involved in the service activity.
  2. Convenience: You no longer need to process several separate documents to record these important details. The serial and lot numbers are now part of the same service activity, making it quicker and easier to update and reference.
  3. Improved Accuracy: By consolidating serial and lot information in one location, the likelihood of missing or incorrect data is minimized, leading to more accurate reporting and fewer manual errors.
  4. Filterability: The fields are also added to the Filter section for Materials reports.

How This Affects Store Orders

Furthermore, these newly introduced fields aren’t just limited to the Service Activity documents. The data is also transferred through the generation procedures CRM0707 and CRM0708 to child documents, specifically Store Orders. This integration ensures that the serial and lot information is seamlessly carried over into subsequent processes, such as order fulfillment, inventory management, and more, streamlining the entire workflow.

As a conclusion, with the addition of the Serial Number and Lot fields in the Service Activities - Materials panel, we’re making it easier for businesses to track and manage their materials with greater precision and less effort. These enhancements not only save time but also improve data accuracy and consistency across various document types.
