Sorting Tasks in To Do (v.25)

We’re excited to announce a new feature for the To Do app within our ERP-CRM platform ERP.net: Sorting Tasks. This enhancement is designed to make managing your tasks simpler and more intuitive.

Whether you’re juggling deadlines, prioritizing high-importance tasks, or just checking through duties, this feature helps you save time by staying organized and efficient throughout your day.

How It Works

The To Do app organizes tasks into four progress categories:

  • New: Tasks you’ve recently added.
  • In Progress: Tasks actively being worked on.
  • Waiting: Tasks pending external inputs or conditions.
  • Completed: Tasks that are finished but still valuable for reference or reporting.

The new feature automatically sorts all tasks within each category.

This gives you full control over which tasks you want to see first depending on what you find more important, more urgent, or simply easier to navigate through.

Sorting Options

With the new Sorting feature, you can now:

  • Sort tasks by Due Date to stay ahead of deadlines.
  • Sort by Title for quick alphabetical navigation and lookup.
  • Sort by Importance to focus on what truly matters first.

You can switch the sorting direction between ascending and descending to control which tasks are displayed at the top.

Multi-Level Sorting

To ensure precision, sorting is automatically done on multiple levels. This way ERP.net’s To Do app takes into account all key task factors:

  • When sorting by Due Date, your to-do tasks are sorted first by their earliest deadline, then by their highest priority, and then by their title.
  • When sorting by Importance, tasks are arranged first by priority level, with further sorting by due date, and then by title.

Example No. 1

For example, let’s say you create five tasks with the following titles, due dates, and priority levels:

Task Due Date Importance
Organize a meeting with Simon 2025-02-10 Normal
Buy soda for the office 2025-02-05 Low
Check out the new tools catalog 2025-02-10 Low
Call Jessica about the parts 2025-02-05 High
Get the new part samples 2025-02-10 Normal

When you select Sort by Due Date, the two tasks with the earlier Due Date (2025-02-05) will be displayed at the top of the list. The task with the High Importance level will be listed before the task with Low Importance.

Then, the three tasks with the later Due Date (2025-02-10) will follow.

The two of them with Normal Importance will be shown above, sorted by their Titles.

Lastly, the task with the same Due Date (2025-02-10) and Low Importance will be shown at the bottom.

Here’s how your To Do list will look:

Example No. 2

This time you create six tasks with the following titles, due dates, and importance levels:

Task Due Date Importance
Publish the new price list 2025-02-21 High
Restock the coffee packs and capsules 2025-02-21 Low
Water the plants in the office 2025-02-18 Low
Organize the office supply cabinet 2025-02-21 Low
Schedule the team training course 2025-02-18 Normal
Prepare the presentation for customers 2025-02-18 Normal

When you select Sort by Importance, the High Importance task will be shown at the top.

Then, the two tasks with Normal Importance will follow. As their Priority Level (Normal Importance) and their Due Dates (2025-02-18) are identical, they will be sorted by their Titles.

After that, the last three tasks with Low Importance will be listed. Then, they will be sorted by their Due Date. The one with the earlier due date (2025-02-18) will appear above the rest. The last two tasks (having the same due date of 2025-02-21), in turn, will be sorted by their Titles.

Your To Do will show like this:

How to Use the Sorting Feature

Getting started with Sorting is easy:

  1. Open the To Do app in the ERP.net platform.
  2. Tap on the currently applied sorting method (e.g., Sorted by Due Date).
  3. Select your preferred sorting type from the available options (“Due Date”, “Title”, or “Importance”).
  4. Optionally, switch the sorting direction (“Ascending” or “Descending”).

The app will instantly organize tasks based on your selection, providing a clear and actionable view of your priorities.

Why This Matters

Sorting tasks isn’t just about organization, it’s about focus.

  • Align your task list with your goals.
  • Avoid missed deadlines.
  • Reduce time spent navigating long lists.

Whether managing your personal tasks or collaborating with your team, sorting helps you stay efficient and productive.
