Excise Duty Support for Electricity (v.25)

As part of the upcoming ERP.net Version 25, we’re introducing a powerful new feature: support for excise duty calculation and reporting on electricity.

In recent years, there has been a significant boom in the production of electricity from renewable sources like solar, wind, and hydro power. With this growth comes increased regulatory responsibility — specifically, the obligation to submit excise declarations and documentation to customs authorities.

To support this evolving sector, ERP.net 25 provides dedicated tools that help energy producers remain compliant with national excise duty requirements while keeping their internal processes integrated and efficient.

Key Setup Requirements

Product Category: Energy Products

When configuring an Excise product category for the Energy Products, the "Quantity" algorithm must be selected. This ensures accurate excise duty calculations based on the actual volume of electricity produced or supplied.

Tax Warehouse – A Technical Requirement

Although electricity is not physically stored, an Tax Warehouse must still be defined in ERP.net for technical and regulatory structuring purposes.

The tax warehouse definition must include:

  • Registration Type

  • Customs Authority

  • Excise Number

Excise Product Setup

When creating Еxcise product type for electricity, make sure to include the following:

  • Excise Product – selected from the official list

  • Unit of Measure – such as kilowatt-hours (kWh)

  • Commodity Code – aligned with customs classifications

  • Capacity – should be left empty

With the introduction of this feature in ERP.net 25, we are expanding our support for the green energy industry, making it easier for producers to comply with regulations and focus on what they do best: generating clean energy.
