ToDos upgrade (v.26)

Why ToDos matter

In the ERP domain, a ToDo (entity: Gen_Todo_Tasks) represents a discrete unit of actionable work—whether business-related, collaborative, or personal. It provides a structured way to track, assign, and complete tasks within teams and across social groups. ToDos centralize responsibilities, ensure visibility, and empower users to stay organized and focused.

Note: In this article, the terms ToDo and Task are used interchangeably and refer to the same type of item in the ToDo application.

More flexibility for ToDos

With the latest update, ToDos are more adaptable, interactive, and productivity-focused than ever. Here’s a breakdown of the key enhancements:

Create a Task from a comment in the chat

With this feature the users can instantly turn any comment into a Task with a right-click, thus avoiding context switching—no need to copy-paste or navigate away.

How it works:

  1. Right‑click any comment in a chat group

  2. Choose “Create Task” from the menu

A ToDo modal window opens with Title automatically prefilled:

  • 📝 TitleAI-generated, context‑aware, and auto‑translated into the user’s working language, regardless of the language used in the original comment

The chosen AI model must be marked as default.

The other relevant information is also filled in th ebackground:

  • 👥 Assigned User  and Owner user – defaults to the task creator

  • 📎 Data Object – connected to the original topic/item

  • 🧵 Social Group – auto-linked if comment is in a group

3. Click button Create to create ToDo

Benefits:

  • Speeds task creation

  • Reduces manual effort

  • Keeps workflow within context

  • Ensures multilingual consistency with AI-powered title generation

After this light exercise, the assigned ToDo is promptly announced in the group chat and enters the list, visible from tab ToDo. Moro to this, the group itself is focused and a series of notifications is triggered so that all members never miss an important group event.

Create а ToDo (AI) from notifications

Another similar productivity feature: Create ToDo (AI) directly from your Notifications list (under the 🔔 bell icon).

This option works similarly to the Create Task feature found in chat comments. However, with the help of our integrated AI model, this version automatically generates a ToDo task using the notification class of the most recent notification as context.

How it works:

  1. Right-click a notification and choose Create ToDo (AI).

    createfromnotif.jpg
  2. The system silently creates a task in the background.

  3. You’ll see a toaster - like message: "To Do was created".

  4. Look for the ToDo in the application list - as DataObject is filled, make sure ot check Show linked in the panel menu

  5. Open the record

  • 📝 Title – is AI-generated into the user’s working language. The chosen AI model must be marked as default.

Benefits:

  • Seamlessly convert important system alerts into actionable tasks.

  • Save time and boost productivity through automated task generation.

  • Ensure no critical notification is overlooked or forgotten.

Enhanced Task visualization in the ToDo App

We’ve refreshed the way tasks appear inside the ToDo application, making them more informative and user-friendly.

When browsing ToDos list in the app, the logged-in user only sees those that are assigned to them, those of ownership, and those assigned to the chat group of membership.

👉 Keep in mind that ToDos with a value in the ObjectData field are visible only when you use the “Show linked” option in the app menu.

  •  Compact modal window

If you choose "Open" in the task menu, it opens a window with system selected fields. Thus you can quickly peek at the Title and Notes, if any, without navigating away.

  •  Inline editing

When you click into the Task, an inline editing is possible for Title, Reminder Date, Due Date, and Assigned to

(from a list of group members if the Task is connected to a social group).

  •  Complete with one click

Mark the task as Completed, or revert it to a previous state if needed, directly in the list - just click in the circle to the left of the title.

Once Completed, you can revert its status the same easy way.

🔒 Access restrictions: Tasks in the navigator and in the app list are visible only to users who are Owners, Assigned to, or members of the Social group set in the task.

Creation time field

Now users can benefit from the new field that announces the date and time of creation of the To Do. Plus you can sort by it as well. Thus you can monitor closely the importance and speed fo completion of the tasks.

System comment when a Task is assigned to a Group

New Rule R38904 ensures that:

  • If a Task’s Social Group field is set

  • If a task is created directly from the Group's option ToDo

  • If a task is created from a comment by the option described above

A System user creates an automated message, comment using notification class NT_SOC_NEW_SYSTEM_COMMENT

"Task '{Todo.Tasks.Title}' was assigned to the group."

Thus group members are well informed without manual communication.

Kanban view for ToDos (Drag & Drop workflow)

ToDos can now be viewed and managed in a Kanban-style board. While it does align with industry trends, the Kanban view is introduced to empower users, reduce friction, and enhance team productivity—all aligned with ERP.net’s mission to streamline and modernize enterprise work.

Benefits:

☑️ Immediate Status Updates (Drag & Drop)

Tasks can be moved between statuses instantly, making it ideal for real-time tracking. For example, a user completing a task just drags it to “Done”—a natural, intuitive action that mirrors physical task boards.

📄 Visual Workflow Management

Kanban offers a clear visual layout of tasks by status (e.g., To Do, In Progress, Done), which is much easier to scan and understand than a traditional list. It enables users to quickly grasp the state of work without digging into filters or reports.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑Boosted productivity for teams

Teams can visually coordinate their workload, spot bottlenecks, and rebalance efforts on the fly. This is especially useful in collaborative environments, such as social groups in ERP.net.

🤝Familiarity and expectation

Users coming from platforms like Trello, Jira, or Asana expect a Kanban view as a standard. Including it lowers the learning curve and increases adoption of the ERP’s task features.

🎫 Suits Agile and Lean methods

Many teams operate under Agile, Scrum, or Lean principles. Kanban fits perfectly with these frameworks by emphasizing workflow transparency and continuous improvement.

The view is available in the main application and within a social group interface.

⚠️ Note: When using a narrow sidebar layout or on a small mobile screen, the Kanban view is not available due to horizontal layout constraints.

⚠️ Note: Inline editing of a task Title is available within the List view only.

With these updates, ToDos are no longer just a checklist—they’re a smart, collaborative tool that connects conversations, notifications, and workflows in one place. By making task creation faster, visualization clearer, and management more intuitive, ERP.net helps teams stay aligned and productive without leaving their flow of work.
